We are going to a holiday dinner tonight and I offered to make the dessert. So I started searching for a festive holiday treat that seemed simple and settled on this one. It is supposed to look like this:

Why I would attempt to make something I have not made and tested, I do not know. I thought I was smart -- I even bought double the ingredients in case I had to make it twice to get it right. Good thing, because last nights attempt looked like this:

I got up this morning to try it again and let me tell you -- rolling a cake is not freaking easy. It still looked really bad after I rolled it up. This time I said F$#%$!!! it, and just slopped cool whip over the outside to hide the fact that my rolled up cake was still falling apart. It almost looks passable -- take a look:
Hopefully, it doesn't sink, shrivel, explode, droop, taste like ass, etc... when we cut into it tonight.

Did I mention that there are going to be people we've never met there tonight. Great way to make an impression, no??? I do have a store bought cheesecake in the freezer in case I chicken out and want to save face...
