Poor Timmy: a wee bit of heart ache and a whole lot of whine

Tagged:

We were supposed to see Blackie and the Rodeo Kings on Saturday night in Hamilton. I had purchased 2 tickets way back as they are my brother's favourite band. I was even looking forward to it myself. At the last minute, however, we convinced Neil to come with us. Enter the problem: 2 tickets, 3 people. I called Ticketmaster the day of the show and was told they do not sell tickets to events on the performance day. No problem, I thought, I'll call the venue directly. I talked to some lady and explained that we were wondering if there were tickets for Blackie left as we wanted to get one more ticket. She replied, "I am 100% sure they are not sold out, but the box office here won't be open until 5PM [3 hours before the show]." So we made a decision. We would leave early for Hamilton and get there around 5 to pick up an extra ticket, head out for supper and then, we 3, would have a rocking good time. However, when we arrived at theatre, we were told in no uncertain terms that the show was sold out.

Tim turned an ungodly shade of pale. I, being the reserve of calm and common sense that I am, calmly pointed out that there was sure to be scalpers around and that we'd probably have no problem getting one extra ticket. So we headed across the street to the pub for supper. While sitting out on the patio, we overheard the table beside us talking about the concert and realized that they were also looking for extra tickets to the show. While we were eating supper, one of the guys at this table beside us even got up to scour the area around the theatre for scalpers. When he returned, the news was not good. There were no scalpers in sight only more people waiting outside the theatre hoping for tickets.

After dinner we went back to the concert hall and checked for ourselves only to find the situation exactly as the guy had said. So I made an executive decision, that to this day, Tim resents. I said, 'all of us or none of us,' and just like that, I sold the tickets. Then came the whine -- and boy there was lots of it. Though, I can say that I did feel really bad Tim didn't get to see his favourite band. Had this have happened to me, I would have turned on the sulk myself.

On the bright side, we are hoping that our next event takes some of the bitter edge off. Yesterday we purchased tickets to, "Evil Dead: The Musical." A musical based on awesome cult classics like Evil Dead and Army of Darkness. The first three rows are called the "splatter zone" so you know we are in for a bloody good time! I'll review it later this week.

'Til then, I'm outta here, she-bitches!! Man, I love Ash, this musical is going to be awesome.
