August 27th

My newest guilty pleasure...

My newest guilty pleasure is watching The Graham Norton Show on BBC Canada.   My mom introduced it to me while I was home in Regina and we watched a few episodes together and they made us giggle and wheeze uncontrollably.  Now his content is not for the faint of heart -- anything goes -- but oh my god is it funny.  Since being back in Toronto, I've been PVRing episodes and I think last week I watched the funniest one yet.  It is an older episode and it features David Tennant -- AKA Dr. Who & AKA Barty Crouch Jr.  Lucky for you, my loyal 1-2 readers (hi mom!), I've found this particular episode on Youtube and am going to post it in its entirety -- it's in four segments.

If you are not a Dr. Who fan, you need to know that this is a tardis.  Other than that, enjoy!

When nothing else is going on, I watch movies.

Neil and I watched the movie, Idiocracy, last night and I don't think I've ever heard him giggle like he did while viewing it.  It's an older flick (came out in 2006) and I'd never heard of it before my brother gave me a copy of it a while back.  It was pretty funny.   Here's a quick sample:

I also finally got around to watching, Across the Universe.  Several people told me that I'd love this movie -- my mom included.  She practically gushed about the young Paul McCartney look-alike, Jude, played by Jim Sturgess.  Anyhow, if you love The Beatles (and really, who doesn't) then you will absolutely love the soundtrack from this film.  While I didn't love the film, I did enjoy it because of the music. I found it a bit too artsy for me in places -- which is weird as I loved Moulin Rouge and they are not without their similarities.  Still, all of the actors played their parts well -- and sang well too.  The characters that channeled Janis Joplin (Sadie) and Jimmy Hendrix (JoJo) were particularly stellar.

Three weeks of catch-up.

I'd like to say that the reason I haven't posted much lately is that I've been overwhelmingly busy.  Alas, I am just extremely lazy.  Let's see, where to start??

Well, in case you haven't seen the pictures from Linda's wedding, they can be found here.  After the wedding, I worked my tush off to organize a baby shower/brunch for my sister.  It went smashingly.  Lots had to be completed before the lovely event -- like a deck needed to be stained and new patio furniture assembled... but I learned that when push comes to shove, we Maciag's (and former Maciag's) rise to the occasion and get the job done.  My parent's new deck and outdoor furniture are lovely... making the deck my favourite space at their house.  Have a look:

You'll see more of the new deck if you check out the pictures from my awesome Baby Brunch for Tess.  Those pictures can be found here

This cupcake creation stayed with you a day or two... let's just say that the blue icing was intense...

On one of my last days in Regina, Tess took me up the Douglas Park Hill.  The hill has a paved road all the way to the top and there is a parking lot up there with spectacular views of the University of Regina, Wascana, and downtown Regina.  I got out my trusty camera, took some pics, and then completed a lovely photo-merge with photoshop when I got home.  Check it out!

The file for the panorama is really huge so I had to reduce it to be able to post it.  To see it in a larger size, click here.

While I was home I got to visit with some of my girlfriends that I never see.  It was nice as there was no awkwardness - we fell right back into easy conversation.  Kendra even hosted a Rockband/Stretchy Pants evening where you were supposed to, "eat and drink your weight in food and drink." Against my husband's suggestion that I not post a video from Rockband Night, I've decided to not listen and post a little snippet.  He thinks it paints us in a bad light but seriously, we are not doing anything remotely resembling debauchery and I don't know about you, but I like the idea of a lawyer that can rock out... but if others feel I should take it down I will.  Until then, enjoy!

In the event that the above video doesn't work, click here.  I've been having trouble hosting videos or anything that uses flash here and until my computer-knowledgeable brother finds some time to help me, there isn't much I can do but complain. There are also a few pictures from this evening, found here.

Since returning to Toronto, I've been enjoying a pretty chill time.  I'm learning to sew... so far I've made curtains and a duvet cover.  I also spent a glorious half day at Exhale Spa getting my feet done.

Neil and I ventured out to Niagara-on-the-Lake with my aunts and uncle to enjoy a day in the country.  We did a little wine touring (Konzelmann Winery was our best find of the day), hit the fruit stands (bought a basket of peaches and plums) and did a little shopping on the main drag (bought some delicious jams from Greaves).  It was a good day -- check out a few pictures from our day trip here.

Other than that, I've been trying to forget I head back to work right away. The summer is almost over and that makes me incredibly sad.
