To Wii or not to Wii

Tagged:

I want a Wii.

Why?

For no reason other than I think it is cool. Tess and Geoff have one.  Tess is always telling me how cool it is therefore it must be really cool, right?  We all need to be cool, right?

Do we need a Wii?

No.

Will I survive if we do not get a Wii?

I suppose

What is stopping us from getting a Wii?

N.  You see, he has this belief that there are things that you need and things that you want.  This obviously falls into the "want" column thus it is not essential to go out and drop $500 on a new gaming system, games, etc.  That would be like frivolous, wasteful and somewhat spontaneous and not at all rational.

Let me tell you -- most days -- I am happy I've married a rational man.  Today is not one of those days.  You see, he hasn't said we can't get one, he just tells me how we don't need one.  Still, he says I can get one if I really want one... but he doesn't really mean it.  You'd have to hear his tone to understand.

Though... it could be that he wants one, but doesn't want me to see his over-eagerness to play games all day and night, thus is playing hardball.  Trying to make the purchase all my idea.  That way, when the Wii takes over our lives it will be all my fault... hmm....

Would we play it?

Yes.

Would it be something we eventually lose interest in?

If I'm being honest, yes.  After all, that's what happened with our Game Cube.

So given that I can rationally work out that it probably won't kill me to not buy one -- why do I still really really want one??

So I ask you, To Wii or not to Wii??

Is ignorance bliss?

Is ignorance bliss?

N and I often wonder....  It would seem that everyone these days has an opinion about everything. The problem, however, is that so many have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, thus rendering their ideas ridiculous.  Maybe to be completely uninformed and unaware is the way to go.  By keeping your head up your ass, you can't possibly lose any sleep over the seemingly endless surplus of stupidity that is constantly rearing its ugly head all around us.

Watching the Rick Mercer Report this week, we agreed with Rick's Rant 100%.  People need to take their heads out of their asses and actually think before they speak or vote.  Pick up a book, read/watch a reputable news source (or 2 or 3), and be able to back your ideas up without resorting to whining, crying, and/or name-calling.   Get informed!

Recipe Exchange

Tagged:

Every time I go home I find myself stealing recipes from N's mom.  Truth is, I am a terrible cook.  Some people find pleasure and joy in working with food -- I am always looking for the fastest way to vacate my kitchen.  Still, I find myself getting bored with making the same things over and over.  That is why I decided that this was the year I was going to try a little harder and learn to cook some new food.

When I got home, I realized that I have a lot of recipes scribbled down on various bits of paper.  Some sticking out cookbooks, some just littered throughout my kitchen.  I decided I wanted to make an electronic file to store them on my laptop.  So, I opened MS Word and was about to type when I decided to check the web for something a bit better.

What I found was:  wegottaeat.com

It's a site that allows you to manage your recipes online.  It has a very easy format for typing up your recipes and better still -- you can save a back-up file of your recipes that is readable in a word processor like Microsoft Word so that if you ever did want to print out your recipes you could.  It also allows you to search for new recipes and add them to your online recipe book as favourites.

I've only started using it and have just 5 recipes typed in but I think it is a great idea so check it out!  If you decide to check it out -- search for me, I'm listed as most-special-k.

Also, if you have any, "even a complete bonehead could make this," awesome recipes to share with me that would be great!

2008

Sorry this is late.  My first attempt was eaten before I could save it.

This is our 2008 in 100 pictures.

Ok -- This is our 2008 in 66 pictures.

I've revised it - again.  Nothing new, just a lot taken out.  I had rushed to make this up in Smilebox after my first and probably best effort got eaten by the Drupal monster that is this blog.  Smilebox is a pretty neat little tool. If you haven't checked it out, you should.  It lets you easily share photos & videos with family and friends.  You can post slide shows to the web, email them, save them for your own viewing pleasure, etc and it is really easy to use.  There are 1000's of templates to choose from for every possible event/occasion and it is free (though you can pay for more features if you choose to).

Ok -- I cannot get this stupid show to play through without multiple glitches.  So I take it back.  Smilebox sucks.

Another year bites the dust..

Tagged:

Well, another year bit the dust!  Hope everyone had a happy, fun, and safe Christmas and New Year!

We are back from Regina.  Got back around 1AM on January 2.   Spent yesterday getting reaquainted with my laptop.  Inbox - full.  Google Reader - full.  Spam - overloaded.

This is just a bit of a teaser... I am still working on my year-in-review post.  It will be up later today.  Still, to feel I've accomplished something this morning, I wanted to get a short post up to announce that my Christmas pictures are up and can be found here.

Also, scroll down as I also quickly banged out a post highlighting the fun I had at my Dad's expense this holiday season!!  He got a letter from Santa!!
