Alex and Mom hanging out!
Now that Alex is just past the 5 week mark, we've noticed some amazing developments.
Eats: He now eats like a champ. Non-stop. Mom feels like a dairy cow. Seriously.
Sleeps: Some nights are better than others. He tends to sleep his longer stretches at night which Mom really likes! This means he is awake a lot of the day. One night, he even had a 7 hour stretch... though I must stress, only once, and he was super cranky the next morning so Mom is undecided whether this should be considered a successful achievement.
Poops: Yes, poops is a category. He poops with such force it is hilarious, complete with grunting and explosions. Hilarious, unless I remember bath number three where he pooped in the tub, was removed from the tub, and then he proceeded to poop on me. Lesson learned? Do not take the baby out of the tub until you are sure he is finished pooping. He poops with such force that timing is essential. N and I have both (unfortunately) learned this the hard way. Alex always poops in twos. Never, I repeat never, under any circumstances, open that diaper until after a second blast.
Speech: He has started to coo! Watch the video proof.
Plays: He also has some lengthy stretches of quiet, awake time. Around here, we call it playtime! He likes rattles (though he hasn't figured out the wrist rattles Mom puts on him). He also like music and is very particular about what he listens to... Motley Crue and classical -- he likes. The soundtrack to Kill Bill Vol. 1 -- not so much. He also likes to kick and punch. I caught some footage the other day... have a peek:
(WARNING: the following video contains a little baby spit-up... do not proceed if this sort of thing grosses you out. However, if it does, you will likely not want to meet Alex for a while as he is a spit-up champion and does it numerous times daily.)
Spits: This could have been discussed under 'eats' but he is so good at it (as seen in the video above) that it deserves its own category. He spits up all day long. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot... it is gross. Our laundry basket has never been so full... constantly.
That's pretty much all Alex can do right now. Doesn't seem like much but he keeps his Mom busy. This is a crazy month too, because in 2 weeks time we are off on our first plane ride (Regina) and then off to our first wedding (Auntie Kathy)!
