"Traditional Values"

Have I ever mentioned my love for you-tube?? Neil and I were looking for a particular Rick Mercer clip that we wanted to email around...

(Click here and scroll down to October 31st to the 'Cheese Ad Spoof' and then further down to October 10th and watch 'A Message from Health Canada')

...and instead started watching videos from previous seasons. We really enjoyed his take on "traditional values."

Although this is a spoof of "traditionalism" I feel that we as Canadians are slowly loosing are own identity and cultural values because we have become to lax on our "traditions". Sure, I'm all for equality (having very Socialist/Liberalist views) and I love the fact that Canada is such a culturally diverse nation...but I do think we need to keep things that distinguish us as being Canadian as part of our culture and traditions. For example: The mounty example...what is wrong with the hat that traditional mounties wear? It is a part of our culture. I don't have a problem with anyone of any ethnicity group, etc-etc... who wants to become a mounty. But I do feel that if they want to be a part of Canadian culture (and a mounty for instance), that they should also embrace it (and wear the traditional garment and apparel). I feel very strong about this and it has nothing to do with equality or being a stuffy traditionalist...it has to do with identity and the fact that we as Canadians are slowly losing our identity, culture, and heritage because of our lax veiws of our culture, heritage, and traditions....I am very proud to be Canadian and part of the culturally diverse nation that we are. I just hope that we do try and keep things that our part of our culture, heritage, and traditions...those things that distinguish us from the rest as being part of this great nation (the little things so to speak...)Sorry for the rather long ranting ;-)~T

Ah yes....God Bless Canada! Where minority groups are in charge. And people who don't bow to said minority groups are "Evil Conservatives who want Canada to be just like America".I am so proud of you Tim - you are FINALLY starting to agree with my boy Harper!!

Oh Andrea - Harper is an R-Tard...and so are all other politicians for that matter.....For instance, in Saskatchewan we have a billion dollar surplus and people leaving the province in droves and *my* socialist NDP party is investing nothing of those surplus $$s to change, or even try and change, anything. The Sask Party....are they any better??...not sure?!? AND the liberal party in this province...well, aye-yi-yi. What I do know; what good is a surplus if there is no one left in this province to enjoy it and continue to contribute to its growth? Not sure if the Sask party is any better but the way things are going...they have my vote next election...will that make a change or difference? I sure hope so but being the pessimist I am, likely not....spin the wheel......~T
