Neil and I watched the movie, Idiocracy, last night and I don't think I've ever heard him giggle like he did while viewing it. It's an older flick (came out in 2006) and I'd never heard of it before my brother gave me a copy of it a while back. It was pretty funny. Here's a quick sample:
I also finally got around to watching, Across the Universe. Several people told me that I'd love this movie -- my mom included. She practically gushed about the young Paul McCartney look-alike, Jude, played by Jim Sturgess. Anyhow, if you love The Beatles (and really, who doesn't) then you will absolutely love the soundtrack from this film. While I didn't love the film, I did enjoy it because of the music. I found it a bit too artsy for me in places -- which is weird as I loved Moulin Rouge and they are not without their similarities. Still, all of the actors played their parts well -- and sang well too. The characters that channeled Janis Joplin (Sadie) and Jimmy Hendrix (JoJo) were particularly stellar.
Made me_sad, happy, nostalgic, amazed at the creativity that went into some of the scenes.
Couldn't have picked a more talented bunch of kids to play the characters AND sing the songs...FABULOUSly done. Really good story (songs tied in so well) There was a vague familiarity to it all. took me back.......some crazy times; some way too carefree(think it had to be, to block out the crazzzy times!!)
Some things never change _still too many crazies out there.......... but the passion to stop the nonsense isn't there any more. Have we become numb to the pain??? People just refuse to get it. ALL WE NEED IS LOVE.......LOVE IS ALL WE NEED! peace
What an awesome show idiocracy is ...with some "similarities" nes pas to "real life" nes pas! ;-)
I have Across the Universe on my PVR as per ma's recommends but am waiting to watch it...given the clip you have here it seems rather like it is a pile of steaming pretentious poo...but, I will throw my pretentious hemp-made scarf and hippie-esque unwashed clothing on and give it a shot someday soon ;-)
`T
oh, Tim Tim.......give peace a chance me boy! LOL_(and you KNOW what I mean) ma :>)
yah, the Brits are Hi-LARiouS.........
.Jennifer Saunders+Joanna Lumley are old favorites (Absolutely Fabulous) can't get much crazier than this bunch!
Graham Norton...VERRRY Funny. No one is safe...digs on the royal family and Paul McCartney's ex......especially humorous!!
New favs, a couple of lighter comedies:
Stumbled on "Vicar if Dibley"one night....In the first episode I watched__this old pastor dies during a service. His replacement, who arrives shortly after is a young, happy go lucky, funny, NON male. This irritates at least one member of the congregation. Dawn French (who teams up with Jennifer Saunders_fr AB FAB......check out YOU TUBE_funny skits) is the replacement.
"My Hero" Ardal O'Hanlon( he's the first super hero in the series...he's replacement isn't as funny) plays A super hero who marries an earth gal and they have super hero babies ...SUPER funny.
A great way to dumb down at the end of a hectic day!!
